Miami is bracing itself for the arrival of premiere galleries from across the globe. Collectors, curators and those with an interest in anything arty will be gathering in Miami from the 12th – 16th of January 2012 for the third Miami International Art Fair.
This mid-winter extravaganza is noted as being “one of America’s most exciting art fairs” and is being hosted in Miami’s downtown Art and Entertainment District. The show’s aim is to bring together international artists that are both well known and emerging onto the art scene and display them in one of 28 international galleries, featuring paintings, sculpture, photography, design and even video. This dynamic ensemble will last for 5 days aboard SeaFair – a giant 228-foot megayacht, which is a sight to see in itself. The event is also set to be an educational experience, with lectures from international artists, and influential speakers in the art world, offering depth and insight into the thinking of artists and their creation process. Its sheer size is inspired in part by the help of 25 local art galleries and their community spirit. Each year it continues to grow in size and popularity and is continuing to attract big names and rising talent even though it’s only in its third year of operation.
Even if you’re not a big art person it is definitely worth visiting this event to be astounded by the sheer number and variety of art pieces being displayed in one location – a chance that does not happen very often.
